Kansas City Wins WAC SAAC Community Service Award

Kansas City Wins WAC SAAC Community Service Award
LAS VEGAS - The Western Athletic Conference today announced Kansas City as the winner of the WAC Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) Community Service Award.

The WAC SAAC challenged each other's institutions in a league-wide competition for the award. This year's contest had Conference's institutions participating in a service activity of their choice. At the conclusion of the service activities, each institution submitted a presentation to the WAC SAAC with a recap on their event and its importance to their respective communities.

Kansas City's student-athlete advisory committee organized a Holiday Toy Drive that included accepting toys and monetary donations at basketball contests during the months of November and December. Overall, the Kansas City SAAC raised a total of $2,075 in cash donations that was used to purchase additional holiday gifts. The holiday gifts were delivered to the children of The Boys and Girls Club of Greater Kansas City.

The award will be presented to representatives from Kansas City during its men's basketball team's opening contest at the 2018 Western Athletic Conference Basketball Tournament in Las Vegas.

The WAC would like to recognize the SAACs from all eight of its institutions for their hard work and efforts on the 2017 WAC SAAC Community Service Project.
