DENVER – Kansas City men's basketball student-athlete Noah Knight has been selected as chair of the NCAA Division I Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC). He will serve as chair from July 1, 2018, through May 31, 2019.
"Noah already has proven through his excellent work with the WAC that he possesses the necessary leadership qualities to be highly effective as the Chair of the national SAAC," WAC Commissioner Jeff Hurd said. "He is a quality young man who will exert a positive voice for all student-athletes."
Knight, a native of Olathe, Kan., has served as the WAC representative on the National SAAC since June 1, 2017. As chair, he will serve as the National SAAC representative on the D-I NCAA Board of Directors and will serve as the primary contact between the national office liaisons and the D-I SAAC. In addition, he will serve as the committee spokesperson to the media and will represent the D-I SAAC at NCAA and external group programs as requested. Knight is also scheduled to be a participant on a panel at the May 7 meeting of the Knight Commission in Washington, D.C.
"I am excited and eager to take over as Chair of the NCAA Division I Student-Athlete Advisory Committee, while representing the Division I student-athlete voice to the NCAA Board of Directors," Knight said. "In respect to the current environment of college sports, I am determined to represent the student-athlete voice to the best of my ability."
Knight competed for the Roos during the 2014-15 season before his playing career ended early in his sophomore season due to multiple concussions. He has remained an integral part of the program as a manager.
