Three WAC Players Named All-Region

Fresno State's Jaleesa Ross, Louisiana Tech's Adrienne Johnson and Nevada's Tahnee Robinson have been named to the Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) All-Region 7 Team.

The MVP of the WAC Tournament, Ross is averaging 16.4 points, 4.6 rebounds, 3.9 assists and 2.1 steals per game. She ranks seventh nationally with 3.1 three-pointers per game and earlier this year became the WAC leader in three-pointers. With 385 treys on her career, she is seven away from the NCAA record.
 
The WAC Player of the Year and a Wade Trophy candidate, Johnson is averaging 22.0 points on 52 percent shooting to go with 9.5 rebounds per game. She ranks 10th nationally in scoring, 23rd in double-doubles (14), 37th in field goal percentage (51.7), 40th in free throw percentage (84.4) and 42nd in rebounding,

A first team all-WAC selection, Robinson is currently the eighth best scorer in the nation, averaging 22.2 points per game and shooting 45.2 percent from the floor, with 82 three pointers. She was named the WAC Player of the Week three times and was one of five finalists for the 2010 Sullivan Award, given each year to the country’s best amateur athlete. Robinson was also named to the WAC All-Tournament Team.

The trio are three of four honorees in the region and three of 52 honorees nationwide. On Monday, March 21, the 52 candidates will be cut to 40 finalists who will be in the running for selection to the 10-member State Farm Coaches’ All-America Team.
