Louisiana Tech forward Adrienne Johnson is one of 40 finalists for the 2011 State Farm All-America team announced Wednesday by the Women’s Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA).
A 6-0 forward, Johnson earned WAC Player of the Year honors this season after leading Louisiana Tech to a 24-8 record, the WAC regular-season title and the program’s 27th appearance in the NCAA Tournament. The Franklin, La., native averaged 22.0 points, 9.5 rebounds, 2.0 steals and 1.4 assists while shooting 52 percent from the field, 39 percent from three-point range and 85 percent from the free throw line. She scored in double figures in 31 of 32 games while recording 21 games of 20 or more points and 14 double-doubles.
Johnson scored 702 points during the year, the eighth most in Techster history. She ends her career ranked No. 5 all-time in scoring with 1,985 points. Johnson was also one of only 34 players named to the Wade Trophy Watch List. She earned WAC All-Defensive Team honors for the third time in her career and was named the WAC Player of the Week five times this season.
The 2011 NCAA Division I State Farm Coaches’ All-America Team will be announced on Saturday, April 2, in Indianapolis during the WBCA National Convention, which is being held in conjunction with the 2011 NCAA Women’s Final Four. For a complete list of finalists, click
