ARLINGTON, Texas – California Baptist’s Dominique Daniels Jr. and Utah Valley’s Carter Welling have been named the University Credit Union Western Athletic Conference (WAC) Men’s Basketball Player and Newcomer of the Week, for the game week ending on Saturday, Feb. 15.

Daniels, a senior guard, led all WAC players with 24.0 points per game and added 5.0 assists and 1.5 steals per contest in a 1-1 CBU week. Daniels hit 11-of-18 (.611) field goals, including four 3-pointers, and all 10 attempts at the free-throw line to finish with a conference season-high 36 points in an 86-83 win over Utah Tech on Feb. 15. Daniels also dished out five assists and logged two steals against Utah Tech.

Welling, a sophomore transfer forward, was a key contributor for Utah Valley in a 70-68 road win at Southern Utah on Feb. 15 to keep the Wolverines first in the conference standings. Welling scored 17 points and added nine rebounds (three offensive), three blocked shots and three steals to his stat line for Uta Valley in the victory.
