2025 WAC Men's Soccer Release - Week 6

UTAH VALLEY STAYS UNBEATEN, CBU IMPRESSES

Utah Valley’s historic shutout streak to start the 2025 season ended in a 1-1 draw with Santa Clara on Sept. 20, but the Wolverines remained the lone unbeaten in the WAC at 6-0-1 entering matches on Sept. 24. With results in four of its last five contests, California Baptist has climbed up the standings to 5-1-1, while San José State has strung together four straight results to settle in at 5-1-2.

IMPRESSIVE SHUTOUT STRING FOR SESSIONS COMES TO AN END
Utah Valley redshirt sophomore goalkeeper Kolby Sessions saw his season opening shutout streak span six full matches and 607 minutes of playing time before Santa Clara finally broke through against the Wolverines back line in the 67th minute of a 1-1 draw on Sept. 20. Sessions’ six straight clean sheets and 607 minutes of scoreless play are believed to be WAC men’s soccer records, and still ranked first in NCAA Division I this season as of Sept. 23.

DECISIVE WIN AT HOME FOR CBU OVER #20 UCI
California Baptist remained red hot with a second straight win and third consecutive result on Sept. 22, blanking No. 20 UC Irvine 2-0 in a thriller in Riverside. Drew Hardin opened the scoring in the 22nd minute to put the Lancers in front before Blake D’Agostino scored a goal in a sixth straight match, finishing a penalty in the 30th minute to power CBU to a 2-0 advantage. D’Agostino captured WAC Offensive Player of the Week honors after equaling Grand Canyon forward Junior Diouf for the conference lead in goals this season.

LANCERS LEAP INTO TOP 40 OF NCAA RPI
During the debut week of the NCAA RPI rankings for the 2025 season, California Baptist jumped 27 spots following its Sept. 22 win over No. 35 UC Irvine to pace the WAC at 33 in the metric. The Lancers’ three wins in Quads 1-3 also led all WAC sides as of the Sept. 23 NCAA RPI report.

DIOUF’S SCORING PACE HAS YET TO SLOW DOWN
Grand Canyon forward Junior Diouf has continued his sensational freshman season for the Lopes, scoring six goals over his first six career games to share the WAC scoring lead with California Baptist’s Blake D’Agostino as of Sept. 23. Diouf ranked third in NCAA DI in goals scored per match (1.00) as of the most recent NCAA national statistics report on Sept. 23.
