ARLINGTON, Texas – No. 1 Tarleton State secured its first ever WAC Women’s Tennis Tournament title after defeating No. 2 Abilene Christian 4-0 in the championship match on Sunday at the Arlington Tennis Center. The Texans shut out the competition this weekend, winning both the semifinal and championship matches with 4-0 sweeps.
 
Tarleton State’s Ximena Morales was selected as the tournament’s Most Outstanding Player following a perfect weekend at the No. 4 singles court where she didn’t lose a single set in both matches, claiming a pair of 6-0, 6-0 double bagel victories. Paired up with Emma Persson, Morales also won both of her doubles matches in the tournament as the duo won the No. 2 doubles court 6-1 over the Wildcats on Sunday and 6-0 against Utah Tech on Friday.
 
Aya Ishii earned a spot on the All-Tournament team after clinching the match-winning point in both matches for Tarleton State this weekend and securing the Texans’ title with a 6-2, 6-2 victory on the No. 2 singles court. Joining Morales and Ishii on the All-Tournament Team from Tarleton State was Maria Castano and Adeliya Mukhutdinova who each went 1-0 in singles play throughout the tournament. Mukhutdinova took the No. 6 singles court 6-1, 6-2 in the championship match.
 
Abilene Christian’s Masha Vrsalovic and Victoria Correa were also represented on the All-Tournament Team after winning their singles and doubles draw in the semifinals and leaving their championship singles draw unfinished.
 
Tarleton State will now wait for the 2026 NCAA DI Women’s Tennis Championship Selection Show on Monday, April 27 at 5:30 p.m. ET, streaming on NCAA.com, to find out who it will be playing in the first round of the national tournament.
