ARLINGTON, Texas – Utah Valley has overtaken California Baptist at the top of the 2025-26 Western Athletic Conference (WAC) Commissioner’s Cup following the completion of the winter competition season.
The WAC awards its Commissioner's Cup to the school that performs the best in a countable 14 of the conference's 17 men's and women's sponsored sports from an academic year. Points are awarded by aggregate scoring based on regular season and/or championship finishes depending on the sport and the number of institutions that sponsor the sport. An institution that does not sponsor a specific sport does not receive any points.
Only the regular season was counted for men’s and women’s basketball during the winter of 2025-26. The teams that earned an NCAA AQ from the WAC basketball championships were also awarded two points. For indoor track and field, points were determined using the WAC Championship results based on the per sport scoring system.
Utah Valley totaled 24.0 points during the winter season after its men’s basketball team claimed the WAC regular season championship, and its men’s indoor track and field squad won the 2026 WAC championship title. The Wolverines added a runner-up finish in the women’s indoor track and field conference championship and a fourth-place finish in the women’s basketball regular season league standings. Utah Valley’s 24.0 points were added to its 32.1 points it accumulated in the fall for a current total of 56.1 points.
California Baptist collected 17.0 points in the winter from its men’s and women’s basketball teams. The women’s basketball team earned the WAC regular season title after a dominant conference season and received an additional two points for obtaining the NCAA AQ for winning the WAC basketball postseason tournament. The men’s basketball team finished second in the league standings and also received an additional two points for securing the NCAA AQ. The Lancers do not sponsor indoor track and field. California Baptist sits in second in the commissioner’s cup standings with 50.1 points.
Tarleton State checked in at third place in the commissioner’s cup standings with a total of 42.7 points. The Texans received 20.3 points from the winter season led by the women’s indoor track and field team who won the WAC championship title, followed by the men’s indoor track and field squad who finished runner-up on the men’s side. Tarleton State received an additional three postseason bonus points after
Lokesh Sathyanathan claimed the NCAA DI men’s long jump title along with
Victoria Cameron finishing third in the NCAA DI women’s 60-meter dash final.
Abilene Christian was in fourth place with 38.1 points, Utah Tech and Southern Utah were tied for fifth with 30.5 points and UT Arlington rounded out the standings in seventh place with 26.7 points.
