WAC Men’s Basketball Player of the Week Announced

DENVER –
California Baptist sophomore guard Milan Acquaah has been named Western Athletic Conference Men's Basketball Player of the Week for the week of Nov. 12-18. This is his first-ever WAC Player of the Week honor.

The Bakersfield, Calif. native averaged 18.0 points, 6.0 rebounds, 5.5 assists and 4.0 steals as the Lancers went 1-1 in a pair of road games last week. Acquaah scored 11 of the final 14 points, including a half-court buzzer beater for California Baptist as it defeated Oral Roberts 70-69 in the Lancers' first true Division I game last Tuesday. He finished the game with 16 points, five steals and four rebounds. The 40-foot game-winner earned the No. 1 spot on SportsCenter's Top 10 Plays of the Day. Acquaah followed it up with a near triple-double performance against Tulsa last Friday, tallying with 20 points, 11 assists and eight rebounds in a heartbreaking 82-79 loss.

Other nominees included: Damiyne Durham of CSU Bakersfield averaged 11.3 points, 3.5 rebounds and 3.5 assists as the 'Runners went 2-1 on the week ... Grand Canyon's Damari Milstead averaged 11.5 points, 3.5 rebounds and 3.5 assists as the Lopes went 2-0 on the week ... Xavier Bishop of Kansas City averaged 25.5 points, 5.5 assists and 2.0 steals on the week ... NM State's AJ Harris averaged 23.0 points and 1.5 assists ... Delante Jones of Seattle U averaged 15.5 points and 3.0 rebounds ... UT Rio Grande Valley's Lesley Varner II averaged 18.0 points and 8.5 rebounds as the Vaqueros went 2-0 on the week ... TJ Washington of Utah Valley averaged 14.0 points and 6.0 rebounds last week.
