Chicago State senior guard Rob Shaw has been named Western Athletic Conference Men's Basketball Player of the Week for the week of Nov. 26-Dec. 2. This is his first-ever WAC Player of the Week honor.

The Louisville, Ky. native led Chicago State to a pair of victories last week by averaging a rare points-assists double-double of 16.0 points on 56.5 percent shooting and 10.5 assists per game. Shaw opened the week with 18 points on 7-of-12 shooting, 10 assists and four steals in a blowout win over East-West in the Cougars' home opener. Two days later in a comeback victory over Eastern Illinois, he scored 14 points and dished out a career-high 11 assists. They were his first two collegiate double-doubles for the senior who entered the week averaging 10.9 points on 38.9 percent shooting and 4.75 assists per game. It is the first two-game winning streak for the Cougars since the 2015-16 season. On the season, Shaw is averaging 11.9 points and a WAC-leading 5.9 assists per game.

Other nominees included: California Baptist's Milan Acquaah averaged 27.0 points, 5.0 rebounds, 3.5 assists and 1.5 steals in a pair of wins ... James Suber of CSU Bakersfield finished with 14 points, 11 rebounds and two blocks in a loss at South Dakota ... Grand Canyon's Carlos Johnson finished with 14 points and three rebounds in a win over Boise State ... Rob Whitfield of Kansas City averaged 16.5 points, 3.5 rebounds, 3.0 assists and 2.5 steals on the week ... NM State's C.J. Bobbitt averaged 10.0 points and 3.5 rebounds in a pair of wins ... Matej Kavas of Seattle U averaged 15.0 points and 4.5 rebounds as the Redhawks went 2-0 last week ... UT Rio Grande Valley's Javon Levi averaged 10.3 points, 5.0 rebounds, 5.0 assists and 1.7 over three games last week ... Connor Toolson of Utah Valley averaged 22.0 points, 4.0 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 1.0 blocks in a pair of wins last week.

UTRGV is off to a 6-4 start for the first time since the 2007-08 season ... the win over Denver extended Utah Valley's home win streak to 18 games, the fourth-best active home win streak in the nation ... NM State defeated Washington State on Dec. 1 to take down its first Power-5 program at home since 2002. It is the third-consecutive year the Aggies have taken down a Power-5 foe ... Kansas City's Rob Whitfield scored a career-high 23 points and drained a career-high seven three-point field goals in road win at Fort Wayne. He also dished out a career-best six assists and a career-high-tying three steals to help the Roos to their first road victory since Feb. 22, 2018 ... Chicago State's Rob Shaw posted his first career double-doubles in back-to-back games with 18 points and 10 assists against East-West and 14 points and a career-high 11 assists against Eastern Illinois ... Grand Canyon's Carlos Johnson scored 12 of GCU's 19 points in a stretch which helped the Lopes overcome a 11-point deficit in a win over Boise State on Dec. 1 ... UTRGV beat UT Arlington for the first time since Nov. 27, 2006, and won in Arlington for the first time since Jan. 11, 1989 ... CSU Bakersfield redshirt senior James Suber posted his first double-double as a Roadrunner with a career-high 14 points to go with 11 rebounds at South Dakota ... UTRGV became the 28th team in NCAA history and second in WAC history to come back from a 24 or more point deficit by beating Lamar 77-75 on Nov. 23 ... California Baptist sophomore Milan Acquaah was named to the Continental Tire Las Vegas Holiday Classic All-Tournament Team after scoring 26 points on 10-of-14 shooting against UAPB and adding 24 points and six rebounds against Howard ... Grand Canyon's Alessandro Lever was named to the Wooden Legacy All-Tournament Second Team after averaging 17.7 points and 6.3 rebounds in three games vs. Seton Hall, Utah and La Salle. He recorded the tournament's only double-double vs. La Salle, his first of the season and the third of his career ... UTRGV's Lesley Varner II and Javon Levi both nabbed career highs of five steals against East Carolina on Nov. 19 ... Seattle U's Morgan Means scored a career-high 26 points, including a career-high six three-pointers, against Denver on Nov. 23 ... Kansas City's Xavier Bishop scored a career-high 28 points on 8-of-13 shooting against Eastern Washington on Nov. 17 ... CSU Bakersfield's Damiyne Durham was named to the all-tournament team at the Junkanoo Jam after averaging 11.3 points, 3.3 rebounds and 1.3 assists ... NM State's AJ Harris exploded for a career-high 31 points on an efficient 9-of-11 shooting night and propelled NM State past New Mexico, 98-94, on Nov. 17. He also went 6-for-6 from beyond the arc in the game the first Aggie to be perfect from three-point land (minimum 5) since Jahmar Young did it vs. Texas Southern (6-for-6) on Dec. 23, 2009 ... UTRGV's Lesley Varner II posted his second-career double-double and first of the season, scoring 15 points with 10 rebounds against Prairie View A&M on Nov. 14 ... CSU Bakersfield's Ricky Holden did not miss a shot (8-for-8 FGs, 5-for-5 3FGs, 4-for-4 FTs) on the way to a team-high 25 points against Antelope Valley to tie CSUB's Division I record for field goal percentage ... Grand Canyon had 51 rebounds against Delaware State, the third-most ever recorded in Division I play and just the fifth time it has recorded 50-plus rebounds in a game ... UTRGV sophomore Greg Bowie II scored a career-high 19 points in the season-opener against Texas A&M Commerce ... Utah Valley center Baylee Steele pulled down a school-record 19 rebounds at BYU on Nov. 9 ... UTRGV fell to Oklahoma 91-76 in front of a crowd of 5,071, just 578 shy of the program record of 5,649 set on Jan. 24, 1981 vs. Lamar.

Seattle U leads the WAC in scoring margin (13.2), field goal percentage (48.0), field goal percentage defense (38.3), blocks (4.5) and assist-turnover ratio (1.2), while California Baptist is tops in scoring (83.6), free throw percentage (73.2), rebounding (39.5) and three-pointers per game (10.8). NM State leads the WAC in scoring defense (67.9), rebounding defense (30.1), rebounding margin (6.1) and turnover margin (4.7), while Utah Valley is tops in three-point field goal percentage (39.3), assists (15.2) and defensive rebounds (29.9). UT Rio Grande Valley leads the WAC in in three-point field goal percentage defense (29.0) and offensive rebounds (12.4) and Kansas City is tops in steals (9.1).

Individually, California Baptist's Milan Acquaah leads the WAC in scoring (21.8) and steals (2.4), while Utah Valley's Baylee Steele is tops in rebounding (8.8) and defensive rebounds (6.1) and teammate Connor MacDougall leads the league in field goal percentage (62.8). Seattle U's Matej Kavas and Aaron Nettles are tops in free throw percentage (85.2) and three-point percentage (55.6), respectively. Chicago State's Rob Shaw leads the WAC in assists (5.9) and CSU Bakersfield's Damiyne Durham is tops in three-pointers per game (3.3). Seattle U's Myles Carter leads the WAC in blocked shots (3.2), while teammates Terrell Brown and Morgan Means are tops in assist-turnover ratio (4.1) and minutes per game (34.9), respectively. UTRGV's Lesley Varner II leads the WAC in offensive rebounds (2.7).

After six games, the WAC leads 4-2 in The Summit League/WAC Challenge. The Challenge features head-to-head competition between all nine teams. Matchups were set based upon factors including the previous year's achievements, records and RPI rankings, as well as projected rankings in the upcoming season. Those teams with home games in 2018 will play on the road in 2019 and vice versa. In addition, teams won't face the same opponent in back-to-back years.
