Seattle U Falls to Presbyterian in CIT

SEATTLE – Seattle U's Myles Carter had a chance to tie the game with six seconds remaining, but his three-pointer was off the mark and the Redhawks fell 73-68 to Presbyterian in the first round of the Tournament Wednesday. The Redhawks close the season 18-15.

Terrell Brown led Seattle U with a double-double of a game-high 19 points to go along with 10 rebounds. Riley Grigsby added 12 points and Matej Kavas finished with 11. Mattia Da Campo grabbed nine boards.

The Redhawks shot 42 percent from the floor, 33 percent from three-point range and 63 percent from the free throw line on the game. Presbyterian connected on 47 percent from the floor, 38 percent from downtown and 73 percent from the line. Seattle U dominated the glass, 45-30, including 17-6 on the offensive end, but committed 13 turnovers to Presbyterian's six.

After a tie at five, Presbyterian used a 12-3 run to take a 17-8 lead. The Redhawks answered with a 7-0 run to cut the lead to two, 17-15. The Blue Hose led by two at halftime, 34-31.

Presbyterian built its lead to 11, 54-43, with 11:56 left in the second half, but the Redhawks went on a 15-3 run to take its first lead since the first play of the game, 58-57, with 6:55 remaining in the game.

The Blue Hose scored the next five points and went on to take a five-point lead, but the Redhawks cut it to three with 1:10 left on a Terrell Brown jumper. After a Presbyterian missed three-pointer, the Blue Hose got the rebound but turned the ball over with 43 seconds remaining.

Brown then made it a one-point game with 34 seconds left, but Prebyterian quickly answered with a layup to make it 71-68 with 18 seconds left.

Carter had a chance to tie it, but missed his three-pointer with six seconds left and the Blue Hose made both free throws after being fouled for the five-point victory.
