NM State's Chris Jans Selected as NABC District 6 Coach of the Year

KANSAS CITY – NM State's Chris Jans today was named National Associational of Basketball Coaches (NABC) District 6 Coach of the Year as selected by his peers.

The WAC Coach of the Year, Jans led NM State to a program-record 30-5 mark, the WAC regular-season and WAC Tournament titles and a berth in the NCAA Tournament. The 12th-seeded Aggies fell 78-77 to No. 5 seed Auburn in the first round Thursday, snapping a 19-game winning-streak that goes down as the third-longest streak in program history.

Jans is also a finalist for the Hugh Durham Award presented annually to the nation's top mid-major coach. In 2015, he was chosen by his peers as the NABC's top first-year head coach and was presented with the Joe B. Hall National Coach of the Year award.
