LOUISVILLE, Ky. – NM State's Mya Felder has been named the Louisville Slugger/National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) Division I National Player of the Week for games played April 29-May 5.
This is the first NFCA honor for a WAC player since the Aggies' Fiana Finau earned the award on March 15, 2016.
A freshman third baseman from Fresno, Calif., Felder hit .706 with a 1.235 slugging percentage and a .700 on-base percentage as the Aggies went 4-1 last week, including a win over No. 17 Texas Tech. She had multiple hits in four of the five games and had a hit in all five contests. Felder was 12-of-17 with three doubles, two home runs and 11 RBIs. In the win over the Red Raiders, she was 3-for-4 with a solo homer. In the series opener at CSU Bakersfield, Felder recorded six of her 11 RBIs for the week as she was 4-for-4 with two doubles and a home run.
Felder has been named WAC Hitter of the Week three times this season. The freshman currently leads the conference in slugging percentage (.747), doubles (16) and total bases (109), and ranks second in RBIs (46) and home runs (12).
