WAC ATHLETES OF THE WEEK
Chicago State's Matt Brown and Utah Valley's Albert MacArthur have been named Western Athletic Conference Men's Indoor Track & Field Athletes of the Week, respectively, for Dec. 4-10.
Brown, a freshman from Wellington, Fla., broke the program record for the 60-meter dash and placed first at the Indiana State Early Bird meet. Brown recorded a time of 6.76 shaving two-tenths of a second off the previous Indiana State Track and Field facility record. He is currently ranked tenth fastest throughout the NCAA in the 60-meter dash.
MacArthur, a junior from Port Orchard, Wash., placed first and second in the triple and long jump events at the Weber State Winter Open. He took first in the triple jump with a distance of 14.46m. He snagged second in the long jump jumping 6.89m. His triple jump mark ranks 61st throughout the NCAA.
Other track nominees: Kansas City's Chaydayne Walker placed third in the 300-meter while recording the sixth best time in the event in program history.
Other field nominees: Chicago State's Orelle Bulgin posted a personal-best to win the triple jump with a mark of 14.26m… Perry Adderly of Kansas City recorded the fifth-best weight throw in program history tossing a 17.57m mark and finishing third.
Utah Valley's Hannah Branch and Kansas City's Katy McAuley have been named Western Athletic Conference Women's Indoor Track & Field Athletes of the Week, respectively, for Dec. 4-10.
Branch, a sophomore from Draper, Utah, set a new program record in the 3000m run at the Weber State Winter Open. Her adjusted time of 9:49.70 was good for a third-place finish. She is currently 45th throughout the NCAA.
McAuley, a senior from Pontotoc, Miss., finished first in the pole vault and notched a new program record. McAuley vaulted 3.95m, the 11th best mark in the NCAA this season.
Other track nominees: Chicago State's Teaira Williams finished second in the 400m dash recording a 59.87… Malon Lee of Kansas City set personal-bests in the 60m and 300m while finishing in fifth and second.
Other field nominees: Chicago State's Saskkia Wiggan placed fifth in the long jump with a mark of 5.26m… Tiera Orr of Utah Valley tied for first in the high jump reaching 1.71m.
