WAC Women's Indoor Track & Field Athletes of the Week Announced

DENVER – Utah Valley's Savannah Neuberger and UT Rio Grande Valley's Samariae Bonds have been named Western Athletic Conference Women's Indoor Track & Field Athletes of the Week, respectively, for Jan. 8-14.

Neuberger, a senior from Heber City, Utah, broke the program record in the mile run recording a time of 4:53.08 and taking first at the Stacy Dragila Invitational. She also claimed first in the 800 meter running a 2:14.19. She ranks best in the mile in the WAC this season and is 42nd throughout the NCAA. Her 800 meter time is also placed first in the conference and 41st in the NCAA.

Bonds, a freshman from Pflugerville, Texas, placed second in the shot put in her college debut and recorded the third-best throw in program history. Bonds' toss of 14.30m (46'91") is the best throw in the WAC this season.

Other track nominees: CSU Bakersfield's Mariah LeSure recorded a 7.68 in the 60m, a best in the WAC this season and second-fastest in program history… Knowledge Omovoh of Grand Canyon posted the top 400 meter time in the conference with a 58.15… Kansas City's Sommer Herner took second in the 800 meter (2:19.94) and fourth in the 4x400 relay (4:07.60)… Idatonye Cheetham-West of UT Rio Grande Valley ran a time of 7.81 in the 60 meter dash placing her fourth-fastest in program history.

Other field nominees: Kansas City's Katy McAuley took first in the pole vault at the Wildcat Invitational jumping 3.65m.
