DENVER – Grand Canyon's Adam Knuff and Chris Linnin have been named Western Athletic Conference Men's Indoor Track & Field Athletes of the Week, respectively, for Jan. 15-21.
Knuff, a freshman from Tempe, Ariz., leads the Lopes in the 60 meter and 200 meter dash while ranking best in the WAC in the 200 meter and second-best in the 60 meter. He recorded a time of 6.83 in the 60 meter to place third at the Air Force Team Challenge. Knuff also posted a 21.94 in the 200 meter to earn sixth.
Linnin, a senior from Castle Rock, Colo., tied the school record in the high jump reaching 2.05 meters for the second time in a row. His jump earned him a third-place finish at the Air Force Team Challenge. Linnin currently ranks second in the high jump in the WAC.
Other track nominees: Kansas City's Josh Sanders ran the top time in the WAC in the 800 meter recording a 1:54.46 and earning fifth place.
Other field nominees: Ekert Van der Watt of Kansas City jumped 4.81 meters in the pole vault to win the event and post the second-best mark in the conference this season.
