WAC ATHLETES OF THE WEEK
MEN
Seattle U's Jacques Hebert and Kansas City's Perry Adderley have been named Western Athletic Conference Men's Indoor Track & Field Athletes of the Week, respectively, for Feb. 12-18.
 
Hebert, a senior from Honolulu, Hawaii, broke the Seattle U mile run record for the third time this season clocking in at 4:09.62. He earned eighth at the Last Chance Elite College meet. Hebert's time sits second-best in the conference this season.
 
Adderley, a senior from Maryville, Mo., took 7th in the Shot Put and 15th in the Weight Throw at the Nebraska Tune-Up. His throws of 15.73 in Shot Put and 14.85 in Weight Throw top other WAC competitors from the week. He currently sits atop the WAC in the Weight Throw and is second-best in the Shot Put.
 
Other track nominees: Kansas City's Josh Sanders ran a 1:21.57 in the 600 meter run to put him third fastest in in school history… Ricardo Mendoza of UT Rio Grande Valley posted the seventh-fastest mile time and fifth-fastest 800m time in program history.
 
Other field nominees: Grand Canyon's Max Myers recorded personal best throws in the Shot Put and Weight Throw while taking third in the Shot Put… Ricardo Espinoza of UT Rio Grande Valley took fifth in the Shot Put with a mark of 14.64m.   
 
WOMEN
UT Rio Grande Valley's Sierra Spinler and Grand Canyon's Madelyn Lundberg have been named Western Athletic Conference Women's Indoor Track & Field Athletes of the Week, respectively, for Feb. 12-18.
 
Spinler, a redshirt junior from Blue Springs, Mo., recorded the fourth-fastest mile run in program history. She took fifth out of 17 competitors at the Texas A&M Aggie Twilight. Her time of 5:05.86 is sixth best in the WAC this season.
 
Lundberg, a sophomore from Phoenix, Ariz., jumped 4.07 meters in the Pole Vault at the NAU Tune Up. She continues to lead the conference with the best jump this season and also set the school record with her latest mark. She is tied for 49th in the nation.
 
Other track nominees: Kansas City's Louisa Nylander ran the 12th best WAC time in the 400 while earning first.
 
Other field nominees: Kansas City's Matia Finley notched the eighth best Weight Throw mark in the conference at 15.93 meters… Alexandrea Hurst of UT Rio Grande Valley threw the shot put 14.18m to take second and record the tenth best toss in program history.
 
INDOOR TRACK & FIELD COACHES POLL

The Western Athletic C­onference announced its men's and women's indoor track and field Pre-Championship Coaches Polls, as voted on by the six men's head coaches and eight women's head coaches in the league. Grand Canyon was selected as the favorite to win both the men's and women's championship for the fourth year in a row.

On the men's side, Grand Canyon was picked as the favorite with five first place votes and 25 points overall. Utah Valley was selected to finish second with 20 points. UT Rio Grande Valley snagged the other first place vote as they are predicted to finish third with 17 points. Kansas City tallied 14 points as they slid into the fourth-place spot. Seattle U and Chicago State are both tied with seven points to round out the men's poll.

Grand Canyon was also picked as the favorite on the women's side. The Lopes received five first place votes raking in 47 points. Utah Valley was selected to finish second with 40 points and two first place votes. Predicted to finish third, NM State received 39 points and one first place vote. UT Rio Grande Valley comes in at fourth with 31 points and Kansas City follows at 28 points. Seattle U tallied 16 points in the sixth-place slot and CSU Bakersfield holds down seventh with 13 points. Chicago State finishes the poll with ten points.

The 2019 Western Athletic Conference Indoor Track and Field Championships will take place at the Ford Idaho Center in Nampa, Idaho this Friday-Saturday, February 22-23.
