NEW ORLEANS - The U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) announced its 2018-19 academic awards for both indoor and outdoor track and field and several WAC teams and student-athletes were recognized.
Earning the All-Academic Team honors were both the men's and women's programs from California Baptist and Utah Valley, as well as the NM State women. The CBU women had the highest GPA of the WAC programs honored, posting a 3.54 grade-point average. In total, 227 women's programs and 139 men's programs were recognized across NCAA Division I.
A number of individual student-athletes were also honored, earning All-Academic honors by holding a minimum 3.25 cumulative GPA and finishing in either the top 96 nationally in any indoor event or having competed at the NCAA regionals.
The Grand Canyon men had four honored as Grant Carpenter, Christopher Linnin Jr., Jesse Newman and William Winfield IV represented the Lopes. Utah Valley had three men honored as Adrian Jones, Andre Jones and Sean York all earned recognition. CSU Bakersfield's Gabriel Gaeta represented the 'Runners.
On the women's side, Emilie Renaud represented CBU. Grand Canyon's Madelyn Lundberg and Alyson Schwartz earned honors, as did NM State's Crissey Amberg, Camira Haughton, Taniya Mitchell, Yemisi Oroyinyin and Hanna Smith. Utah Valley's Aisha Graham-Perez and Savannah Neuberger represented the Wolverines.
902 women and 583 men from across NCAA Division I earned honors.
