DENVER – California Baptist's Britney Thomas has been named Western Athletic Conference Women's Basketball Player of the Week for Jan. 7 through Jan. 13.
Thomas, a junior forward from San Jacinto, Calif. (San Jacinto HS), had a pair of double-doubles last week as the Lancers lost a close game to Kansas City before earning a big win over Chicago State. Against Kansas City, she scored 25 points to go with 19 rebounds and seven blocks in a 78-74 loss to the Roos. She followed that up with 13 points and 13 rebounds, along with two steals and two blocks, in just 20 minutes in an 89-52 win over Chicago State. On the season, she is fourth in the WAC in scoring at 14.9 points per game and second in rebounding at 11.4 per game.
