Seattle U to face No. 1 seed Stanford in opening round of NCAA Tournament

DENVER – Seattle U is set to take on No. 1 seed Stanford in the opening round of the 2018 NCAA Division I Women's Soccer Tournament after defeating Kansas City in the WAC Tournament championship match, 1-0.

The Redhawks and Cardinal will match up at Laird Q. Cagan Stadium.

WAC No. 2 seed Seattle U snuck past the WAC regular season champions Kansas City on Sunday to earn the automatic qualifier bid. Kelsey Vogel of Seattle U found the back of the net in the 40th minute and the Roos were unable to respond. The Redhawks advanced to the championship match following a 2-0 victory over UT Rio Grande Valley.

This is the fourth time since 2013 that the Redhawks have earned a spot in the NCAA Tournament. Last year, Seattle U just missed the NCAA Tournament as they lost in a shootout to Utah Valley in the final match of the WAC Tournament.
