PALO ALTO, Calif. - Seattle U (10-7-3) fell to Stanford (17-0-2) 3-0 in the opening round of the 2018 NCAA Women's Soccer Tournament.
The Redhawks held the Cardinal scoreless until the 18th minute when Civana Kuhlmann found the back of the net for a 1-0 lead.
Seattle U's Leahi Manthei found an opportunity from the box but sent it just wide in the 24th minute.
Stanford struck again in the 52nd minute to stretch the lead to 2-0. They scored once more in the final minutes for the final deficit of 3-0.
Seattle U managed just three shots to the Cardinal's 24. Ariana Romero tallied four saves between the posts.
The Redhawks saw their fourth WAC Tournament Title in Julie Woodward's 22nd season. Seattle U is the only program in Division I to advance to its last six conference finals. The Redhawks qualified for the NCAA Tournament for the fourth time since 2013.
