As senior associate commissioner, Speraw is the primary administrator for both men’s and women’s basketball in the WAC. Speraw oversees all conference scheduling and operational functions within the sport and serves as tournament director of the annual WAC Basketball Tournament. Speraw is also the primary conference sport administrator for men’s golf and baseball.

The WAC has continued its growth into one of the premier mid major conferences in NCAA Division I since Speraw’s arrival in February of 2022, rising to a peak of 11th in the Kenpom.com ranking of DI men's basketball conferences at the conclusion of the 2022-23 season. Speraw was named to the NCAA DI Women’s Basketball Oversight Committee in August of 2023, with the committee working to ensure that appropriate national oversight in the sport is maintained and supervising the qualification and selection procedures for the NCAA DI Women’s Basketball Tournament.

Speraw joined the WAC staff after nearly 10 seasons as director of men's basketball operations at Kansas State University under head coach Bruce Weber. The Wildcats captured the 2013 and 2019 Big 12 regular-season championships and made five NCAA Tournament appearances during Speraw’s tenure, reaching the NCAA Elite Eight in 2017-18.

A former Division I basketball player himself having played at the University of Central Florida from 2005-10, Speraw also served as a graduate student manager and administrative assistant at the University of Iowa from 2010-12.

Speraw earned a bachelor's degree in finance and a master's degree in sports and fitness from UCF. In addition, he added a second master's in business administration from Iowa.
