Ismael Kagone joined the WAC in February of 2021 and was promoted to the title of director, sport administration and championships for the conference in August of 2024.
In his role with the WAC, Kagone is the primary sport administrator for a variety of conference-sponsored Olympic sports including men’s soccer, cross country and track & field. Kagone also serves as the conference’s championship director for each of the aforementioned sports and is involved in championship logistics and sports administration functions conference wide.
Prior to the WAC, Kagone completed a one-year internship with the Atlantic 10 Conference, serving as the men's basketball and championship intern. While at the A-10, he assisted with the preparation and follow-up of men's basketball and other Olympic sport championships. Kagone also provided support with data research, including RPI and NET ranking metrics for 21 sports.
Kagone graduated from the University of Richmond with a degree in healthcare studies and a minor in sociology. During his time there, he worked as a student assistant in Richmond's athletic public relations department for three years. He also collected photos and videos pregame, during and postgame for Richmond social media pages. Additionally, Kagone gained experience as the president of UR's Black Student Alliance.
Kagone was born in New York, raised in Philadelphia and is trilingual.
