ARLINGTON, Texas – California Baptist found itself in the lead in the overall standings of the 2024-25 Western Athletic Conference (WAC) Commissioner’s Cup following the fall 2024 competition season. (
FULL 2024-25 CUP STANDINGS)
The WAC awards its Commissioner's Cup to the school that performs the best in a countable 14 of the conference's 20 men's and women's sponsored sports from an academic year. Points are awarded by aggregate scoring based on regular season and/or championship finishes depending on the sport and the number of institutions that sponsor the sport. An institution that does not sponsor a specific sport does not receive any points.
Only the regular season was counted for the sports of soccer, volleyball and football (WAC members compete in the football-only United Athletic Conference) during the fall of 2024. For the sport of cross country, points were determined using the WAC Championship results based on the per sport scoring system. Affiliates are used as a placeholder in the standings or championship results but are not scored in the overall Commissioner’s Cup standings. Any team that earned an NCAA AQ from a WAC Championship was also awarded two points.
California Baptist registered 38.8 points to lead the fall cup standings thanks to conference championships in men’s cross country and bonus points for winning the women’s soccer tournament as the fourth seed, along with bonus points for qualifying for the NCAA Men’s Cross Country Championships. The Lancers added a runner-up showing in women’s cross country.
Utah Valley checked in with 38.3 points and in second place in the standings after defending the conference women’s cross country title as the meet host in Orem, along with finishing atop the regular season standings in women’s soccer. The Wolverines added top-three showings in men’s cross country and volleyball.
Seattle U was in solo third place with 27.4 points after the fall, with bonus points earned as the men’s soccer tournament champion (second in regular season standings). The Redhawks also added a third-place showing in the women’s soccer standings.
Southern Utah was in fourth place with 26.6 points, Abilene Christian was fifth with 25.3 points, Tarleton State was sixth with 23.5 points, Utah Tech was seventh with 23.4 points, Grand Canyon was eighth with 21.7 points, and UT Arlington rounded out the standings with 19.0 points after finishing an unbeaten volleyball season.
