ARLINGTON, Texas – UT Arlington’s DaJuan Gordon and Tarleton State’s Devon Barnes have been named the TicketSmarter Western Athletic Conference (WAC) Men’s Basketball Player and Newcomer of the Week, for the game week ending on Sunday, Feb. 25.
 
Gordon, a graduate student guard, earned his third conference player of the week award this season and second consecutive nod following a 20.0 points, 9.5 rebounds and 3.5 steals per game average over two wins for UTA. Gordon added a 66.7 field goal percentage for the week. Gordon registered 23 points on 8-of-12 shooting, pulling down nine rebounds (four offensive) while chipping in three steals in a 90-85 win over Southern Utah on Feb. 22. Gordon contributed 17 points and 10 rebounds for his conference-high 11th double-double of the season, which included four steals, in an 89-78 victory against Utah Tech on Feb. 24.
 
Barnes, a sophomore transfer guard, lit up the points column for 2-0 Tarleton State in registering a league-best 27.5 points per game average for the Texans last week. Barnes added 2.5 steals per game across the two victories. Barnes scored all 22 of his points in the second half to key a 77-74 comeback win over Grand Canyon on Feb. 22. Barnes contributed a game-high 33 points, including 24 in the second half, to go along with five rebounds and three steals in an 82-65 triumph against California Baptist on Feb. 24.
