ARLINGTON, Texas – Seattle U’s Taylor Fitch and UT Arlington’s Abi Gutierrez have been named the TicketSmarter Western Athletic Conference (WAC) Softball Player and Pitcher of the Week, for the game week ending on Saturday, Apr. 13.
 
Fitch, a sophomore infielder, batted .636 (8-14) with three doubles, one triple, one home run, eight RBIs, six runs scored, 16 total bases and two walks. Fitch also had a 1.364 slugging percentage and a .692 on base percentage.  
 
Gutierrez, a freshman, posted a remarkable 0.82 ERA, coming away with 19 strike outs across 17 innings pitched. Gutierrez threw her way in UTA Softball's history books as she reached a new single-game high of 13 strike outs, leading the Mavs to a 4-1 extra-inning victory against Stephen F. Austin on Apr. 10. The lefty recorded two complete games including a 1-0 win over Utah Valley, securing the series win over the Wolverines on Apr. 13.
