ARLINGTON, Texas – The Western Athletic Conference (WAC) announced its all-conference women’s tennis teams and major awards sponsored by adidas and Provo Airport on Wednesday, as Grand Canyon’s
Natasha Puehse was selected the WAC 2024 Women’s Tennis Player of the Year by the league’s head coaches.
The other major award winners consist of Seattle U’s
Lamija Avdic (Freshman of the Year) and Grand Canyon’s
Katarina Adamovic (Coach of the Year).
Regular-season champions GCU made up three of the six all-conference first single team spots. The Lopes were represented by Puehse,
Elizaveta Morozova, and
Santa Strombacha. Avdic picked up a first team spot along with her Freshman of the Year award, with Tarleton State’s
Martha Makantasi and UT Arlington’s
Tara Gorinsek rounding out the first team. Puehse and Strombacha also are awarded the all-conference first doubles team. Abilene Christian’s
Andrea Guerrero, Seattle U’s
Elena Kravela, Tarleton State’s
Elsa Boisson and
Noelia Lorca, UT Arlington’s
Sarina Reinertsen, and UTRGV’s
Marjorie Souza were all tabbed for the all-conference second team. UTA’s
Bruna Casasampere and
Francisca Vergara captured the second doubles team.
