ARLINGTON, Texas – Tarleton State’s Dior Johnson has been named the University Credit Union Western Athletic Conference (WAC) Men’s Basketball Player and Newcomer of the Week, for the game week ending on Sunday, Nov. 23.

Johnson, a junior transfer guard, repeated as the conference’s top weekly player following a 2-0 showing for Tarleton State last week. Johnson averaged 31.0 points on an even 50 percent shooting and 87.9 (29-of-33) percent at the free-throw line, adding in 4.5 rebounds, 3.5 assists and 1.5 steals per contest. Johnson scored a game-high 33 points while hitting 18-of-21 free throws in a 77-54 home win over Angelo State on Nov. 17. Traveling to Houston to face Rice on Nov. 20, Johnson poured in 29 points to go along with five rebounds, six assists and two steals in a 90-74 victory on the road.
