LAS VEGAS – The semifinals of the 2025 WAC Men’s Basketball Tournament were officially set on Thursday night at the Orleans Arena. No. 5 Seattle U captured a 69-63 win over No. 4 Abilene Christian before No. 3 California Baptist held off No. 6 Tarleton State 55-51 to complete the tournament’s quarterfinal round.
Seattle U advanced to the first semifinal against No. 1 seed Utah Valley on Friday at 6 p.m. PT, while CBU will take on No. 2 seed Grand Canyon in the nightcap on Friday at 8:30 p.m. PT. Both games will air on ESPN+ and Sirius XM Channel 381.
No. 5 Seattle U 69, No. 4 Abilene Christian 63 (Box Score)
In an evenly-matched and physical game in the third quarterfinal game of the tournament Seattle U held ACU to 37.9 percent shooting, which included a 1-for-18 defensive effort from beyond the 3-point line. The Redhawks built on a 30-25 halftime lead and withstood a late surge from ACU in the second period to capture the win.
Kobe Williamson guided Seattle U with 20 points and nine rebounds in the victory, hitting 9-of-11 field goals in the win. Matthew-Alexander Moncrieffe posted 18 points, nine boards and three blocks before fouling out of the game, and Brayden Maldonado finished with 16 points and two steals.
Quion Williams shined for ACU with a game-high 24 points to go along with six rebounds and two steals. Bradyn Hubbard added 10 points and five rebounds for the Wildcats.
No. 3 California Baptist 55, No. 6 Tarleton State 51 (Box Score)
CBU built a 30-21 lead at halftime before Tarleton State clawed back and took a late 50-49 lead with under 90 seconds to play. The Lancers responded with a 3-pointer and two free throws at the line to ice the win.
Dominique Daniels Jr. led CBU with 13 points in the victory, with Tylen Riley adding 10 points, six assists and three steals. Sam Silverstein gathered in a game-high 12 rebounds.
Dantwan Grimes scored a game-high 16 points for Tarleton State, adding seven rebounds and three steals. Keitenn Bristow added 12 points and five rebounds.
