ARLINGTON, Texas – Grand Canyon climbed into the lead in the overall standings of the 2024-25 Western Athletic Conference (WAC) Commissioner’s Cup following the winter 2025 competition season. (Full 2024-25 WAC Commissioner's Cup Standings)

The WAC awards its Commissioner's Cup to the school that performs the best in a countable 14 of the conference's 20 men's and women's sponsored sports from an academic year. Points are awarded by aggregate scoring based on regular season and/or championship finishes depending on the sport and the number of institutions that sponsor the sport. An institution that does not sponsor a specific sport does not receive any points.

Only the regular season was counted for the sports of men’s and women’s basketball during the winter of 2025. For the sports of swimming & diving and indoor track & field, points were determined using the WAC Championship results based on the per sport scoring system. Affiliates are used as a placeholder in the standings or championship results but are not scored in the overall Commissioner’s Cup standings. Grand Canyon earned an NCAA AQ in both men’s and women’s basketball and was awarded two bonus points for each AQ.

Grand Canyon registered 69.9 points to lead the winter cup standings update thanks to conference championships in men’s indoor track & field and basketball. The Lopes were the regular season and tournament champion in women’s basketball to capture the full 11 points, and GCU finished second in the men’s basketball regular season before claiming bonus points following a third straight WAC Tournament title.

Utah Valley checked in with 69.0 points and in second place in the standings after defending the conference women’s indoor track & field crown and winning a regular season championship in men’s basketball. The Wolverines added women’s cross country and women’s soccer regular season titles in the fall slate.

California Baptist was in solo third place with 64.3 points after the winter, on the strength of a fall men’s conference cross country win and team NCAA Championships bid and a conference women’s soccer tournament victory. The Lancers added top five finishes in both men’s and women’s basketball during the winter.

Other updates from the winter competitive season included Tarleton State in fourth place with 48.0 points. Abilene Christian was fifth with 44.1 points, Seattle U was sixth with 42.0 points, UT Arlington was seventh with 41.6 points on the strength of an unbeaten conference volleyball season in the fall, Southern Utah was eighth with 35.3 points, and Utah Tech rounded out the standings with 31.6 points.
