ARLINGTON, Texas – Abilene Christian’s Bradyn Hubbard and Tarleton State’s Dior Johnson have been named the University Credit Union Western Athletic Conference (WAC) Men’s Basketball Player and Newcomer of the Week, for the game week ending on Sunday, Jan. 11.

Hubbard, a senior forward, earned a second conference nod in the past three weeks following a 1-1 ACU road trip. Hubbard averaged 24.5 points per game on an even 60.0 percent shooting (15-of-25), adding 5.5 rebounds and 2.0 steals per contest. Hubbard scored a team-high 22 points and chipped in seven rebounds and two assists in an 84-80 win at Tarleton State on Jan. 8. Hubbard scored a game-high 27 points to go along with three steals in a conference showdown at UT Arlington on Jan. 10.

Johnson, a junior transfer guard, repeated as the conference’s top newcomer after scoring more than 30 points for the third straight game in the 84-80 setback against ACU on Jan. 8. Johnson connected on 9-of-19 field goals and was a perfect 15-of-15 at the free-throw line for Tarleton State, adding three rebounds and two assists to finish with a game-high 33 points. Johnson was ranked second in NCAA Division I, averaging 23.8 points per game as of Jan. 11.
