ARLINGTON, Texas – Utah Tech’s Ethan Potter and Tarleton State’s Dior Johnson have been named the University Credit Union Western Athletic Conference (WAC) Men’s Basketball Player and Newcomer of the Week, for the game week ending on Sunday, Jan. 18.

Potter, a senior forward, averaged 19.5 points and 9.0 rebounds per game while shooting 66.7 percent from the floor for Utah Tech in a 1-1 week. Potter logged a double-double with 16 points and 11 rebounds while adding two steals in a hard-luck 56-52 loss to UT Arlington on Jan. 15. Potter responded with 23 points on 9-of-11 shooting, chipping in seven rebounds in a 75-71 win over Tarleton State on Jan. 17.

Johnson, a junior transfer guard, scored in excess of 30 points for a fourth straight conference game at Southern Utah on Jan. 15. Johnson poured in 40 points for the Texans, his second 40-point game of the season, while pulling down five rebounds and dishing out two assists before fouling out of a 106-105 Tarleton State setback in overtime. Johnson’s 24.1 points per game scoring average this season as of Jan. 19 led all players in NCAA Division I.
