ARLINGTON, Texas – Tarleton State’s
Macie Vickers and California Baptist’s
Miranda De Nava have been named the Jersey Mike’s A Sub Above Western Athletic Conference (WAC) Softball Player and Pitcher of the Week, for the game week ending on Sunday, Feb. 15.
Vickers, sophomore catcher, posted a .438 batting average on the week, compiling seven hits across 16 at-bats. Vickers posted three multi-hit games last week where she collected at least two RBIs and one run in each game. In the first game against Colgate, Vickers went 2-for-4 with a three-run double and a two-run triple. Vickers then went 3-for-4 in the second Colgate contest which included a two-run single. Vickers currently leads the WAC with 16 total RBIs on the season.
De Nava, a sophomore right-handed pitcher, started the season 2-for-2 in the WAC Pitcher of the Week awards after tossing her second complete game shutout of the season, and first seven-inning complete game shutout, against St. Francis where she struck out 12 batters and only allowed two hits. De Nava also picked up the win against CSU Bakersfield after striking out seven and allowing only one run off three hits. De Nava currently holds the most strikeouts in the WAC with 39 in 26.2 total innings pitched this season.
