ARLINGTON, Texas – UT Arlington’s
Valeria Feeney and California Baptist’s
Annika Hollingsworth have been named the Jersey Mike’s A Sub Above Western Athletic Conference (WAC) Softball Player and Pitcher of the Week, for the game week ending on Sunday, Mar. 1.
Feeney, a freshman infielder, batted .500 over six games for UT Arlington last week, recording multiple hits in four games of the UTSA Birds Up Bash tournament. Feeney produced seven RBIs and scored five runs for the Mavericks last week as seven of Feeney’s nine hits were for extra bases: one home run, one triple, and five doubles. Feeney helped UT Arlington defeat UTSA after going 2-for-3 with a home run, a double, two RBIs and two runs scored.
Hollingsworth, a sophomore right-handed pitcher, continued California Baptist season sweep of the WAC Pitcher of the Week honors after picking up two wins and notching a 0.63 ERA last week. Hollingsworth tossed 11.0 innings across three appearances in the pitching circle and allowed only one earned run. Hollingsworth collected five strikeouts in five innings against San Diego on Tuesday then pitched five shutout innings in the game versus CSU Bakersfield on Saturday,
