ARLINGTON, Texas – Utah Valley’s Tatum Hall and Tarleton State’s Shelby Schultz have been named the Jersey Mike’s A Sub Above Western Athletic Conference (WAC) Softball Player and Pitcher of the Week, for the game week ending on Sunday, Apr. 5.
 
Hall, a sophomore infielder, recorded a .714 batting average last week after notching three three-hit games with at least four RBIs in each of those games. Hall went 3-for-4 with a home run, a double, five RBIs and two runs scored in UVU’s midweek victory over Weber State. Hall tallied three hits, four RBIs and two runs in each of the Friday double-header games against UT Arlington, collecting three doubles and home run on the day. Her 4 doubles, 10 hits, 14 RBIs and 20 total bases tied for most in the country this past week. Hall currently holds the second-best batting average in the WAC with a .439 average and has accumulated the second-most RBIs with 41 on the year.
 
Schultz, a sophomore left-handed pitcher, tossed two complete-game shutouts against Abilene Christian, picking up a pair of wins and helping Tarleton State to the series victory over the Wildcats. Schultz pitched five shutout frames in the first game of the Friday double-header, allowing just two hits and striking out four as the Texans run-ruled ACU 8-0. Schultz kept the Wildcats off the scoreboard once again in the Saturday rubber match, keeping Tarleton State ahead 1-0 after seven scoreless innings in the pitching circle where she collected seven strikeouts, surrendering just two hits. Schultz didn’t allow a single walk in her 12.0 innings and held the opposition to a .103 batting average.
