TicketSmarter WAC Women's Swimming and Diving Athletes of the Week Announced

DENVER – Grand Canyon's Maria Brunlehner has been named the TicketSmarter Western Athletic Conference Women's Swimmer and Diver of the Week for Dec. 1 through 5.

Brunlehner, a freshman from Mombasa, Kenya, became the highlight of the Lopes' second place finish at the Miami Invitational, Thursday through Saturday. She won in the 200 individual medley with a time of 1:59.54 that puts her at the top of the WAC and finished second in the 200 breastroke (1:01.39). Brunlehner led off the Lopes' winning 200 freestyle relay (1:30.63) breaking the school record with a time of 22.66 in the process. She earned a total of five NCAA B cuts.

Other swimmer nominee: Idaho's Zoe Froh won the 500 freestyle (5:04.07), the 1650 freestyle (17:32.25) and the 400 individual medley (4:25.71) at the Vandal Invitational, Friday through Sunday … Seatlle U's Sammy Mosier won the 50 freestyle with a time of 24.02 and finished second in the 100 butterfly with a time of 56.33, third fastest in the program's history, in their dual meet against Simon Fraser, Friday through Sunday.
