ARLINGTON, Texas - The Western Athletic Conference announced its All-WAC volleyball teams and major awards as selected by the league's 11 head coaches. Stephen F. Austin’s
Ielan Bradley was named WAC Player of the Year, while Grand Canyon’s
Klaire Mitchell earned WAC Setter of the Year. UTRGV’s
Kiaraliz Perez captured Libero of the Year and California Baptist’s
Nicole Mauser brought home WAC Freshman of the Year.
Debbie Humphreys of Stephen F. Austin was selected as the WAC Coach of the Year.
Bradley, a senior right side, earned WAC Player of the Year honors after averaging 3.67 kills per set on a .358 hitting clip and 4.21 points per set. Bradley tallied double-digit kills in 23 matches for the ‘Jacks, recording a season-high 25 kills against Tulsa on September 15. She ranked third in the WAC in kills and points per set, leading Stephen F. Austin to a 27-3 overall record and a perfect 16-0 conference record.
Mitchell, a graduate student setter, picked up WAC Setter of the Year for the third time in her career after leading the WAC with 11.14 assists per set during conference play. Mitchell recorded 11 double-doubles throughout the season, tallying a season-high 51 assists against Central Michigan on September 9.
Perez, a junior libero, was named WAC Libero of the Year after leading the WAC in digs per set with 4.83. Perez recorded four 20 plus dig performances, tallying a career-high 28 digs against Houston Christian on September 2.
Mauser, a freshman right side hitter, claimed WAC Freshman of the Year after averaging 2.24 kills per set, 0.62 digs per set and 0.55 blocks per set during WAC play. Mauser recorded a season-high 16 kills and 18.5 points against Nevada on September 8.
Humphreys earned her first WAC Coach of the Year honor after guiding the ‘Jacks to an impressive 27-3 overall record and a 16-0 conference slate to secure the WAC regular season title and number one seed in the WAC tournament. Stephen F. Austin led the WAC in team hitting percentage (.283), kills per set (14.33), assists per set (13.16), and aces per set (1.89) during WAC play.
