2024 WAC VB Release Week 11

UTAH TECH, GRAND CANYON AND UTAH VALLEY LOCK UP POSTSEASON SPOTS
Three more spots in the 2024 WAC Volleyball Tournament have been clinched as Utah Tech, Grand Canyon, and Utah Valley have locked up postseason spots. Grand Canyon now has the opportunity to go back-to-back as tournament champions and Utah Tech will make its first WAC volleyball tournament appearance.

LUCKY NUMBER 13 FOR UT ARLINGTON
UT Arlington has extended its winning streak to 13 straight games, not having lost a game since Sept. 20. The Mavericks remain perfect in WAC play reaching a record of 12-0. UTA’s 12 conference wins are the most for the Mavericks since 2014 and two wins this week can tie for the most in a season since 2004. Head Coach J.T. Wenger and the 2024 Mavericks have the chance to be the first team in program history to hold a perfect conference record with more than 10 games played.

HOT STREAKS FOR THE TRAILBLAZERS AND THE LOPES
Grand Canyon is coming off a double-sweep week and a three-game winning streak while Utah Tech is riding a five-game winning streak with three of those games being sweeps. UTU’s Kennedi Knudsen has been awarded back-to-back WAC Player of the Week honors for her stellar performance on the court and for leading the Trailblazers to their best season in their D-I era. The two teams will meet on Thursday for the battle for second in the WAC standings. GCU won the first matchup between the two squads this year at St. George 3-1.

CAREER MILESTONES REACHED
The WAC saw a couple of players join the 1,000 digs club last week as Seattle U’s Katlyn Sipes and California Baptist’s Kali Wolf reached the milestone mark. Sipes became the fifth Redhawk in the SU D-I era to record 1,000 career digs. Utah Valley’s Natalie Palmer also hit a career milestone as she reached 1,000 career assists.
