ARLINGTON, Texas – Grand Canyon’s Laura Erikstrup and UT Arlington’s Koi Love have been named the Jersey Mike’s A Sub Above Western Athletic Conference (WAC) Women’s Basketball Player and Newcomer of the Week, for the game week ending on Monday, Dec. 30.
 
Erikstrup, a graduate forward, collected her second WAC Player of the Week honor on the year after leading Grand Canyon to its 11^th straight win and tallying her 11^th straight game with double figure scoring. Erikstrup posted her third double-double of the season against Park (AZ) with a season-high 24 points along with 12 rebounds. She followed that up with 17 points against Northern Arizona, making 8-of-10 (80.0 percent) shots from the floor. Erikstrup averaged 20.5 points and 9.5 boards while shooting 69.2 percent in the final week of non-conference play. Erikstrup will enter 2025 first in the conference and 17^th in the nation in field goal percentage (60.0 percent).
 
Love, a fifth year transfer forward, took her second consecutive WAC Newcomer of the Week honor after becoming the 13^th different player in the country this season to record a triple double. In UT Arlington’s victory over Wiley, Love recorded 18 points, 12 rebounds, and 10 assists along with a pair of blocks and a steal. Love and her teammate Avery Brittingham made UTA history as they were the first pair of Lady Mavs to record a triple double in the same game. Love holds the second best field goal percentage in the conference (51.7 percent) and continues to have the second most points per game scored (16.5).
