WAC WBB2526 Release Week 17
THREE TEAMS, TWO GAMES EACH, ONE WAC REGULAR SEASON CHAMPIONSHIP
Just one weekend of regular season conference play remains before the 2026 Air Force Reserve WAC Women’s Basketball Tournament and three teams are still in contention for the WAC regular season title. The current WAC standings leader, California Baptist (13-3), can clinch the outright title, its first title since 2023-24, with a win at ACU on Thursday. Abilene Christian (12-4) can clinch at least a share of its first-ever title with a win versus CBU, along with matching CBU’s result on Saturday. Southern Utah (11-5) must win both of its games this week, including a matchup at CBU on Saturday, and get some help across the league to claim a share of their first regular season title since 2022-23.
CALIFORNIA BAPTIST LOOKS TO FINISH PERFECT CONFERENCE ROAD RECORD WITH WAC TITLE
California Baptist has been the road warriors in the 2025-26 WAC season, as the team will head to Abilene on Thursday for its final conference road matchup with a chance to finish 9-0 in WAC road games, claim the WAC regular season title outright and seize the No. 1 seed in the WAC tournament. The Lancers are coming off another 2-0 week on the road, completing the season sweeps over UT Arlington and Tarleton State.
Filipa Barros collected her league-leading 11th and 12th double-doubles of the season with 23 points and 14 boards against the Lady Mavs, followed by 13 points and 10 boards versus the Texans.
WILDCATS HOLD OFF WOLVERINES FOR 250TH DIVISION I WIN
Abilene Christian picked up its 250th win in the program’s DI era with a 58-57 nail-biting victory over Utah Valley. This win kept the Wildcats’ WAC regular season title hopes alive and prevented CBU from clinching a share of the championship last Saturday. Seven of ACU’s eight players in the game scored at least six points, highlighted by
Breanna Davis who scored four points in the final 45 seconds including the go-ahead layup with 14 seconds remaining.
UTAH TECH DAMPERS SOUTHERN UTAH’S WAC CHAMPIONSHIP HOPES
Utah Tech made its senior day even more special with its biggest win of the year as the Trailblazers upset Southern Utah 83-66, the most points scored in a game for Utah Tech this season. Five Trailblazers finished with double-digit scoring led by
Paige Cofer with 19 points along with 10 rebounds for a double-double.
Lauren Crocker also notched a double-double with 17 boards and 10 points. Utah Tech shot a season-high 45.7 percent (32-of-70) from the floor and committed a season-low six turnovers.
