ARLINGTON, Texas – Abilene Christian’s Erin Woodson and California Baptist’s Lauren Olsen have been named the Jersey Mike’s A Sub Above Western Athletic Conference (WAC) Women’s Basketball Player and Newcomer of the Week, for the game week ending on Sunday, Mar. 1.

Woodson, a junior guard, helped keep Abilene Christian’s regular season conference championship hopes alive with two wins last week where she averaged a double-double with 15.5 points and 11.5 rebounds. Woodson notched her second double-double of the season in the game against Utah Tech as she tallied 23 points, tied for the most points scored in a game by a WAC player last week, and 14 rebounds, a career-high. She matched her career-high in assists with six in each game and played 79 of a possible 80 minutes last week for the Wildcats.
 
Olsen, a freshman guard, improved her double-digit scoring performances to 17 straight games in a 2-0 week for California Baptist. Olsen recorded 17 points and five rebounds at UT Arlington on Thursday followed by 16 points on 3-of-4 shooting from beyond the arc at Tarleton State on Saturday. Olsen has scored at least 13 points in every CBU WAC games this season and is second in league scoring with 17.38 points per game.
