WAC WBB2526 Release Week 16

NO ROOM FOR ERROR AT THE TOP OF THE WAC STANDINGS
With just two weekends of regular season conference games remaining, the top of the WAC Women’s Basketball standings has never been tighter as just one game separates the top three: California Baptist, Southern Utah, Abilene Christian. The Thunderbirds were able to win the pivotal third matchup against the Wildcats on Sunday, giving Southern Utah the tiebreaker over ACU if the two were to tie in the standings at the season’s end. With Utah Valley’s big win over California Baptist on Wednesday, the T-Birds are now just half a game away from the Lancers for first place.

SOUTHERN UTAH FLIES TO FOURTH STRAIGHT WIN
Southern Utah defended the home court last week and defeated Tarleton State 76-69 and Abilene Christian 78-70, stretching its winning streak to four games and improving its 2025-26 home record to 13-1. The Thunderbirds are winners of eight of the last nine games and now sit just half a game behind California Baptist for the top of the WAC standings. Ava Uhrich was tabbed this week’s WAC Player of the Week for the third time this season, the most in the WAC, after averaging 25.0 points and 11.5 rebounds per game.

WOLVERINES UPSET CALIFORNIA BAPTIST
Utah Valley pulled off its biggest win of the season last Wednesday in Riverside as the Wolverines defeated the WAC standings leader, California Baptist, 63-61 for their third consecutive victory and first conference road win of the season. The Wolverines were powered by a career-night from Gracie Sorenson who posted a career-high 17 points and scored the game-winning bucket with 18 seconds left on the clock. Amanda Barcello had another strong night from beyond the arc, making three 3-pointers on four attempts and totaling 16 points on the night.

UTAH TECH RETURNS TO THE WIN COLUMN
Utah Tech made its way back to the win column in grand fashion as the Trailblazers swept their games last week and claimed one of the WAC’s weekly honors. The Trailblazers got redemption from their double-overtime loss at UT Arlington a few weeks ago and took down the Lady Mavs 60-58 after clawing back from a 22-6 deficit in the first quarter. Utah Tech was backed by a career-high 29-point performance from the WAC Newcomer of the Week, Kaylee Borden. The Trailblazers then tallied their highest point total (within regulation) of the conference season in a 76-55 victory over Tarleton State. Brie Crittendon tied a career-high 23 points to lead four Trailblazer starters in double figures.
