ARLINGTON, Texas – California Baptist’s Filipa Barros and Utah Tech’s Kaylee Borden have been named the Jersey Mike’s A Sub Above Western Athletic Conference (WAC) Women’s Basketball Player and Newcomer of the Week, for the game week ending on Sunday, Mar. 8.
 
Barros, a redshirt junior guard, led California Baptist to the 2025-26 WAC regular season title by taking down Abilene Christian and Southern Utah last week with a double-double in both games. Barros scored a game-high 26 points and collected 14 rebounds in an overtime thriller in Abilene on 50 percent shooting from the floor. Barros scored 11 of the team’s 13 points in overtime including three consecutive triples that would seal the victory and clinch the regular season title. Barros would conclude the regular season with her fourth consecutive double-double scoring 12 points and collecting 12 rebounds in a Saturday victory over the Thunderbirds.
 
Borden, a redshirt senior guard transfer from Nevada, led all scorers in Utah Tech’s contest versus Utah Valley with 24 points on 45 percent shooting, which included a career-best six 3-pointers. Borden just missed a double-double as she finished with a game-high nine rebounds to go with four assists and two steals. Borden finished the regular season with the second best scoring average in the league with 15.9 points per game.
