ARLINGTON, Texas – The major award winners and all-conference teams for the 2024 WAC women’s golf season were revealed on Wednesday afternoon. Seattle U’s Rivekka Jumagulova was named WAC Player of the Year, California Baptist’s Pusanisa Ekkantrong earned WAC Freshman of the Year and Seattle U’s Marc Chandonnet claimed WAC Coach of the Year as voted on by the league’s 11 head coaches.

Player awards and the all-conference teams were tabulated by using a formula that included pre-championship Clippd player rankings, adjusted regular season scoring average and placement at the 2024 WAC Women’s Golf Championship.

Jumagulova finished sixth place (224, +11) for conference champion Seattle U at the 2024 WAC Championship to claim athlete of the year accolades. Jumagulova entered the conference tournament ranked 323rd in NCAA Division 1 according to Clippd and she led the WAC in adjusted scoring average at 72.90. Jumagulova was the individual medalist at the Bobcat Dessert Classic on Apr. 10. 

Ekkantrong placed fourth at the 2024 WAC Championship with a score of 221 (+8).  Ekkantrong was the individual medalist at the Loyola Parkinson Family Invitational earlier this season and had two top-three finishes.

Chandonnet helped lead Seattle U to two tournament victories thus far this season, including an impressive showing at the 2024 WAC Championship. The Redhawks erased a seven-shot deficit in the third round at The Rim Golf Course to claim their first WAC women’s golf title with a team score of 892. Seattle U will compete in the NCAA Regionals at the Tumble Creek Club in Cle Elum, Washington from May 6-8.

On the WAC All-Conference First Team, Jumagulova was joined by Abilene Christian’s Ryann Honea, Sofia Chabon of Stephen F. Austin and Grand Canyon’s Ryan Flynn and Leighton Shosted. Ekkantrong earned WAC All-Conference Second Team alongside Abilene Christian’s Delaney Martin, Grand Canyon’s Constanza Guerrero, Seattle U’s Tsara Ralamboarison and Southern Utah’s Excel Thalangkarn.
