ARLINGTON, Texas – California Baptist’s Kayla Lyon and Seattle U’s Nicola Simpson have been named the TicketSmarter Western Athletic Conference (WAC) Softball Player and Pitcher of the Week, for the game week ending on Saturday, Apr. 6.
 
Lyon, a sophomore third base/catcher, batted .875 (7-8) with four runs, seven hits, one home run, and four RBIs. She also had a 1.625 slugging percentage and a .889 on base percentage. Lyon has more extra base hits (25) than she does singles (24), and she is top-five in the country in doubles this season. 
 
Simpson, a junior, allowed just one earned run in a complete game effort to win in the first game on Apr. 5 over Utah Tech. She held a no hitter through the first 5.1 innings. Simpson also had six strikeouts.
