ARLINGTON, Texas – Grand Canyon’s Cam Wilmington and Utah Valley’s Aiden Garnett have been named the University Credit Union Western Athletic Conference (WAC) Men’s Track and Field Athletes of the Week, respectively, for the competition week ending on Thursday, Jan. 11.
Wilmington, a senior, earned his first weekly track honor after a standout showing at the BYU Cougar Invitational. He recorded a winning time of 7.94 (converted from 7.90) in the 60-meter hurdles, the fastest in the WAC this season (31st in the NCAA). Wilmington also competed in the 300 meters, finishing in 33.88 seconds, ranking third in Grand Canyon program history.
Garnett, also a senior, followed with an equally impressive performance in the field events at the BYU Cougar Invitational, taking first place in the men’s high jump. His school-record jump of 2.15m ranks fifth in the nation, leading both the WAC and Mountain Region this season.
