ARLINGTON, TX – Tarleton State’s Aidan Matthews and Gabriele Tosti have been named the University Credit Union Western Athletic Conference (WAC) Men’s Indoor Track and Field Athletes of the Week, respectively, for the competition week ending on Thursday, Jan. 18.

Matthews earned his first weekly track honor after a record-setting performance at the Corky Classic hosted at the Texas Tech Sports and Performance Center. He broke the school record in the 200 meters with a time of 21.21, the fastest by a male in the WAC this week and the fourth best in the conference this season. Matthews finished 10th overall in the event, trailing eight SEC/ACC athletes and one professional competitor.

Tosti, also representing Tarleton State, had an impressive showing in the field events at the Corky Classic, leaping 15.98m in the triple jump. His performance ranks as the fifth best jump in the NCAA this season, and first in the WAC.
