CALIFORNIA BAPTIST WINS BACK-TO-BACK WAC WOMEN’S SOCCER TOURNAMENT CHAMPIONSHIPS
The California Baptist Lancers pulled off the stunning upset in enemy territory, advancing past the No. 1 seeded Utah Valley Wolverines in penalty kicks 4-3 following a 2-2 draw after two 10-minute overtime periods to claim their second consecutive WAC Women’s Soccer Tournament Championship. The Lancers earned an automatic bid to the NCAA Women’s Soccer Tournament where they will play No. 3 Kansas in the first round on Friday, Nov. 14 at 6 p.m. CT at Rock Chalk Park in Lawrence, Kansas.

Mikayla O’Brien was named the tournament’s Most Outstanding Player for her amazing performance in the CBU box, collecting 13 saves in the tournament and recording the championship-winning penalty kick. O’Brien led California Baptist to another WAC championship, helping the Lancers advance in the conference tournament through penalty kicks twice, making multiple saves in the shootouts. UTAH VALLEY EARNS AT-LARGE BID TO NCAA TOURNAMENT
Utah Valley earned an at-large bid into the NCAA Tournament after an impressive 14-4-3 season as the Wolverines will make their fifth appearance in the tournament and the first since 2022. Utah Valley will play No. 3 Colorado in the first round on Friday, Nov. 14 at 7 p.m. MT at Prentup Field in Boulder, Colorado. This will be the first time the WAC has earned two bids into the NCAA Women’s Soccer Tournament since 2022. The WAC was one of just seven conferences to have multiple bids in the tournament.
FAITH WEBBER ENTERS NCAA TOURNAMENT WITH MOST GOALS SCORED IN THE NATION
The historic career of Utah Valley’s
Faith Webber continues into the NCAA Tournament after scoring three goals in the WAC Tournament to increase her season goal total to 22, the most in NCAA D-I women’s soccer. Webber has scored a goal in each of the last six matches, averaging two goals per game in that span. Webber’s 70 career goals moved her into third all-time in the WAC in all matches, just two goals behind Hawaii’s Natasha Kai (2002-05) who sits second with 72.
