No. 2 California Baptist stunned No. 3 Utah Tech with a last-minute goal in regulation to tie the match and send the contest into overtime and penalty kicks where the Lancers prevailed 2-1. No. 1 Utah Valley handled business versus No. 4 Abilene Christian as the Wolverines shutout the Wildcats 7-0. Utah Valley will square off with California Baptist in the WAC Women’s Soccer Tournament Championship Saturday, November 8
th at 4 p.m. MT for an automatic bid to the NCAA Women’s Soccer Tournament.
No. 2 California Baptist 2 – No. 3 Utah Tech 2 (CBU advances on PKs 2-1)
California Baptist forced overtime and penalty kicks in match one of the 2025 WAC Women’s Soccer Tournament after
Ava Westlund saved the Lancers’ season with an incredible goal from over 25 yards out to tie the match at 2-2 with less than a minute remaining in regulation.
Anja Jestrovic recorded the first goal for CBU in the 13
th minute of the match and Utah Tech evened the match six minutes later when the Lancers forced an own goal. Following a scoreless 59 minutes,
Ella Cotter scored her first career goal to give the Trailblazers a 2-1 lead with 12 minutes remaining. The Trailblazers had the victory in reach until Westlund scored the equalizer with 20 seconds left in regulation, forcing overtime.
Following two scoreless 10-minute halves, the match went to penalty kicks. The WAC Goalkeeper of the Year,
Mikayla O’Brien, came up huge in the box for the Lancers and forced the Trailblazers to miss four out of their five shots as California Baptist advanced on penalty kicks 2-1.
No. 1 Utah Valley 7 – No. 4 Abilene Christian 0
Utah Valley continued its home dominance and defeated Abilene Christian 7-0 to advance to its first WAC Championship match since 2022. The seven goals tied a WAC tournament record while the 39 shots in the match set a new WAC tournament record.
Faith Webber (2), Taylor Nelson, Ruby Hladek, Bailey Peterson, Josie Shepherd and
Jacey Wood all found the back of the net for the Wolverines. The Wolverine defense held the Wildcats from recording any shots on goal.
