ARLINGTON, Texas - The Western Athletic Conference announced its postseason all-conference women's soccer teams and major awards as selected by the league's six head coaches. Utah Valley’s Ruby Hladek and Mia Owens were named the WAC Offensive and Defensive Player of the Year, respectively. California Baptist’s Mikayla O’Brien earned WAC Goalkeeper of the Year and Utah Tech’s Jocelyn Wright was selected as WAC Freshman of the Year. Utah Valley head coach Chris Lemay was chosen as WAC Coach of the Year for the third time in the last four seasons.

Hladek, a senior midfielder, led Utah Valley to its third consecutive unbeaten conference season, scoring nine goals and four assists for 22 points in WAC play. Hladek recorded points in nine out of ten league matches. Hladek had seven multiple-point matches in all games this season, tied for most in the WAC. Hladek notched two goals and an assist against Gonzaga (Sept. 8) with another two-goal performance versus Utah Tech on Oct. 27.

Owens, a junior defender, anchored the Wolverine defense that limited WAC opponents to just seven total goals in ten matches. Utah Valley picked up six shutouts on the year with five coming in conference play. Owens played a full 90 minutes in eight matches this year and played at least 70 minutes in all WAC matches. Owens recorded one goal and two assists this season, scoring her goal against California Baptist on Oct. 3.

O’Brien, a senior goalkeeper, totaled six clean sheets for California Baptist in 2025 with three coming in league play, both being the most in the WAC. O’Brien collected 68 saves in all matches this season and registered a .763 save percentage and 1.13 goals against average in league play. O’Brien had six matches with at least six saves including a season-high nine saves in the season opening shutout over CSU Bakersfield on August 14.

Wright, a freshman forward, led Utah Tech in scoring this year with six goals across the 2025 season, tied for the fifth-most among the WAC. Four of those goals came in WAC play and two were game winners against Southern Utah (9/28) and Abilene Christian (10/19).

Lemay picked up his third WAC Coach of the Year award in the last four seasons after leading Utah Valley to a fourth straight WAC regular season championship and third straight unbeaten WAC season. Lemay and the Wolverines compiled an overall record of 13-4-2 and a conference record of 9-0-1 to secure the first seed in the WAC 2025 Women’s Soccer Tournament. Lemay’s 2025 squad finished the regular season with the fourth best scoring offense and seventh best goal differential in the country.
